I have purchased 3 horses from Inglis Tried Horse sales for less than $1,000 and have all turned out to be super horses. I usually check the catalogue for the breeding I like, age etc, mark my catalogue then inspect those ones first. I then just cruise past each stable and if something catches my eye I inspect them too. When you arrive at the sale yards also pick up the supplementry catalogue (late entries) as 2 of the 3 I have purchased came from this group (they are on last and just by chance often go cheaper). Sure you don't get to try them out but for less than $1,000 its often worth the risk. You can have them vetted if you wish. If you find a few you like get to the ring in the view of a spotter and wait till the hammer is up to bid that way if you are not familiar with the breeding you are not there wasteing your time with low bids early when it will end up going way over your budget. Remember some will have GST added and some won't (it will be written on the top courner of the catalogue) so make sure to account for that when bidding. The next Inglis tried horse sale is on July 29th at the Randwick saleyards (Newmarket). Catalogue is online at: www.inglis.com.au
