There are new rules for EA events - see Eventing NSW website. Yards must be of solid construction so no electric tape yards - fair enough. My question is can you still use electrified tape in conjunction with metal yards?
I think the accompanying picture of an approved yard is funny - my pony could and would take that yard quite some distance to find green grass. I think they should be required to be attached to something immovable too.

This rule has been in for nearly 10 years now re solid yard construction. I would have thought you could still incorporate electric but you have to have solid rails and posts in there somehow. Maybe it was an eventing rule only but i remember this being communicated at StGregs back in 1999.
My mare used to drag her yard around at events so i now pin it down using tent pegs and that has stopped her in her tracks.

does this mean no electric tape can be used anywhere on the yards??? i have yards that have a solid metal rail the whole way aroundthe perimeter then electric tape up high so they dont lean over and i then seperate it into seperate yards with electric tape. is this aloud the perimeter is solid???

The other disciplines have now adopted the Eventing rule.
You can use tape to stop your horses biting and or leaning over...but tape can't be what 'holds them in'.
And I agree, the yards should be pegged or into the ground.

The showjumpers are in for a shock. They would make 3 acre paddocks with a tiny piece of tape about 18 inches high!!
Suppose it doesn't apply to dressage horses because they don't stay in anything less than 12x12 enclosed stables with 2 ft of bedding and preferably with automatic waterers !!
