I am borrowing my daughter's name to ask this question. Recently At Negs ODE 2 boys had callers in the dressage. One in a lower grade and one in Jnr Pre Novice. I would like to know the official rule on this. I was always under the impression that this was not allowed. When another parent questioned the officials she was told that it was under the discretion of the club. Is this correct?

Ive always been told it wasnt allowed, even at pony club they dont allow it, except in beginners! I guess it would be up to the club, if you look on the entries they usually have rules about the equipment allowed, and this might say something about callers.

I also heard about this and I thought it was a set rule that you could not have callers in dressage in eventing. I am interested to know the results of this question.

It is a definate rule that in eventing dressage you are not allowed callers. In normal dressage however, you are.

Hi Amber. This is what we all have believed but apparently this may not be the case. I think Vince Roche will let us know where this rule sits.

Gemma, the National rules do not mention callers in Dressage. Therefore the International (FEI) rules apply: they specify that a test must be ridden from memory (Rule 526.1). While most people know that callers are not allowed, most people are not aware of the actual rule, hence the confusion at Armidale. Regards, Vince
