I'm a bit confused as to whether body protoectors are compulsory for cross-country and/or showjumping in one-day events. I intend to wear one anyway but would like to know if it needs to be of a certain standard. I nearly bought a BETA class 2 protector but for some reason I think that I have seen somewhere that a BETA class 3 is required.
Can anyone advise me on this?

Becky, Body protectors are not compulsory for Eventing. I'm pleased you have purchased one though. I think they are very worthwhile. Vicki

I think you are very wise to wear a body protector, they are not compulsory but i can vouch that if my friend had not been wearing one when she came off and her horse stepped on her chest she would probably not be here today. The beta standard i think relates to the standard for racing, they have to have a certain standard but for eventing there is no standard to my knowledge.

Becky
Not many people wear them showjumping, but feel free (I always do). The dress rules do not require you to wear a coat when SJ if you are wearing one.

Thanks for the responses. I've bought the best one I could & have been wearing it for x-country but I have to admit that I don't wear it for showjumping as I feel it's a bit too restricting. Insead I've been practising hanging on for dear life!
