Has anyone used malawash to treat their horse for an itch? I know it's for flea treatment for dogs, but we were given it to use on our horse many years ago when he suddenly became itchy and was scratching like crazy. It helped him when we moved him to a new paddock before we had dug out all the weeds. Problem is that I can't remember if we diluted the malawash, or just sponged it on. We are also not sure what is causing the itch. He was washed, as were his rugs, we checked through his coat for lice and have found absolutely nothing. Someone suggested something coming off the trees that he has been standing under since last week, but other horses that also did haven't been affected. All horses were also wormed only last Tuesday. So in desperation we have used the dog's flea wash as it isn't as harsh, let him dry off in the sun and put another clean cotton combo on him. He is still scratching like mad poor baby. Does anyone have any ideas?? Being a public holiday, everywhere is closed.

One of my horses was allergic to something growing in his paddock and got a bad rash under his stomach and on the face, I used Malawash every few days to help him and it seemed to work. I left it on for about 10 minutes then rinsed it off. I also left a cotton combo on as he only got the rash where he wasn't covered.

Thank you for your reply Cathy. I will give that a go. This cotton is still intact since his wash yesterday, so he must be feeling somewhat better. Hopefully the malawash can keep it away.
