After a topic which was discussed earlier this year I was wondering what had happened to a rule I was told was to be bought in in July 2004? I raised the topic of uniformity within the grades, especially intro and prelim. As the "happy in Prelim, but would go Prenovice if it was smaller" rider I had raised the subject that some Prelim (more so the showjumping ) seems to be full 95cm and then you go to another event only to find the prelim showjumping at 85 and the prenovice more at the 95cm. I was informed that by July 2004 a rule was being established which meant that all showjumping MUST be place at the maximum height. this pleased me as I would therefore know that each event I went to I would be happy to jump the 95cm course. It means that everyone is happy to be at their chosen level and not feeling disappointed as the course was too small, only to find they upgrade and the next event is at Maximum height and too scary. What did happen to this rule as it does not seen to have been adheared to? Was I given incorrect information, and if so could this rule be thought about?

Kerry,
I think you are talking about the SJ guidelines that were distributed in July to all clubs & TD's. The guidleines do not say the SJ must be maximun height. And it was never intended to make all SJ courses maximun height.
They are guidelines to help keep some uniformity to SJ, but relate to the diffiuclty of the SJ course not the height. A course can not be over maximum though.
Each club is entitled to develop their own 'type'of event as long as it is within the demensions.

i dont think id like maximum showjumping everywhere, im not a confident showjumper for one thing, and also some courses are spooky, some are technical etc, i wouldnt want to be doing a super technical AND maximum course! or a super spooky and maximum.. i prefer one or the other... but thats just me!

Are these guidelines anywhere on the website for people to read?
