my instuctor has got me riding with a dressage whip for showjumping to keep my horses canter. just wondering am i allowed to use it in the warm up to the showjumping??

april are u talking about the warm up?? cause im sure u wouldnt be allowed to use them for the actual XC!!! well ill give it a whirl at macarthur and if anyone says anything ill no the answer.

Rules 40 (XC) and 59 (SJ) - "if a whip is carried in the jumping test it must not be weighted at the end or exceed 75cm in length".

As the rules say: "If a whip is carried in the Cross-Country and/or Jumping Tests, it must not be weighted at the end or exceed 75 cm (30 inches)." Therefore if you dressage whip is more than 75cm long (and most will be longer), you may be eliminated, fined or be subject to a disciplinary procedure. Best avoided! Vince
